This page explains how we help you keep gambling as entertainment: the limits and breaks you can set on your account with us, the signs that play may be becoming a problem, and the organisations in the UK that offer free, confidential support.

Our commitment to safer gambling

Gambling should be a form of entertainment, not a way to make money and not a way to deal with stress, boredom or debt. Over time the odds favour the house, and every game on our site is built that way. We ask you to treat the money you spend here as you would treat the cost of an evening out: decide what you can afford to lose before you start, and stop when you reach it.

Our site is for adults aged 18 or over only. We hold a gaming licence and we verify the identity and age of every player who registers with us. Accounts that cannot be verified are closed and any play on them is cancelled in line with our terms.

Staff who deal with players are trained to recognise signs of harm. We may contact you, ask you to set a limit, or restrict your account where your play suggests you are at risk. We would rather have that conversation early than late.

  • Set a budget before you play and treat it as the price of entertainment, not as an investment.
  • Never gamble money you need for rent, bills, food or credit repayments.
  • Do not try to win back what you have lost; chasing losses is how a bad session becomes a bad month.
  • Take regular breaks, and avoid playing when you are tired, upset or under the influence of alcohol.
  • Keep gambling as one activity among several, not the one that fills your free time.

The tools in your account

Every safer gambling tool is free, open to every registered player, and can be switched on at any time from the responsible gaming section of your account or from the cashier. You do not need to give a reason, and using a tool has no effect on your balance, on bonuses already credited or on a withdrawal that is already in progress.

ToolWhat it doesWhen it applies
Deposit limitCaps how much you can deposit in total over a period you choose. From the moment it is saved, for the daily, weekly or monthly period you select.
Loss limitCaps your net losses over the period you choose, counting wins against stakes.Across all games on your account for that period.
Session limitEnds your session once you have been logged in for the length of time you set. Each time you log in.
Reality checkShows an on-screen reminder of how long you have been playing and where you stand. At the interval you choose, while you are playing.
Time-outLocks your account to play for a short, fixed break. From the moment it is confirmed until the break ends.
Self-exclusionCloses your account to play for a longer fixed period that cannot be lifted early. From the moment it is confirmed; marketing to you stops as well.

How to switch a tool on

  1. Log in and open the responsible gaming section of your account, or open the cashier and choose the limits tab.
  2. Choose the tool you want and the period it should cover.
  3. Enter the amount or the length of the break, using the options shown in your account.
  4. Confirm the change.
  5. If you cannot complete the change yourself, message live chat or e-mail support@casinoroyalvalley.co.uk and we will set it for you.

Increases are not immediate

A request to raise or remove a limit only takes effect after the cooling-off period shown in your account, and we will ask you to confirm it again once that period has passed. A request to lower a limit, take a time-out or self-exclude applies as soon as you confirm it.

Signs that gambling may be a problem

No single point below means that you have a gambling problem, and this is not a diagnosis. Taken together, though, these are the patterns people most often recognise in hindsight. Read the list honestly, and if several apply to you, consider setting a limit or taking a break today.

  • You play for longer, or with more money, than you planned most times you sit down.
  • You go back to win back losses, or deposit again straight after a losing session.
  • You borrow money, sell things or use money set aside for bills in order to gamble.
  • You hide how much you play, or how much you spend, from people close to you.
  • You feel restless, irritable or low when you are not playing.
  • Work, study, sleep or relationships are suffering because of the time you spend gambling.
  • You have tried to cut down before and have not managed it.

Where to get free, confidential help

Support in the UK is free, confidential and independent of us. You do not have to be in crisis to use it, and you can contact any of these organisations on behalf of someone else.

  • GambleAware - a charity that funds and signposts free treatment and prevention services across Great Britain, with self-assessment tools and plain information for anyone worried about their own gambling or someone else's.
  • GamCare - provider of the National Gambling Helpline, offering free counselling, group sessions and moderated forums for players and for family members.
  • The National Gambling Helpline - open every day of the year and staffed by trained advisers who can talk through your situation in confidence and refer you to local treatment.
  • GamStop - the free national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling in Great Britain. One registration blocks your access to every operator licensed here, including us, for the period you choose.

Blocking software that stops gambling sites from loading on your phone, tablet or computer is widely available, and many banks let you switch on a card block for gambling transactions. If you would like us to close your account altogether, tell live chat or e-mail responsiblegaming@casinoroyalvalley.co.uk and we will arrange it.

Protecting children and young people

It is an offence for anyone under 18 to gamble. Every new account is checked against identity and age data, we may ask for documents at any point, and we carry out those checks before a withdrawal is released. Where we find that a player is under 18 we close the account, cancel any winnings and return deposits in line with our terms.

Most underage access happens on a device that an adult has already logged in on. If you share a phone, tablet or computer:

  • Do not save your password in the browser and do not allow the device to stay logged in.
  • Use the parental control settings built into your device, your browser and your home network.
  • Consider filtering software designed to stop gambling sites from loading on a shared device.
  • Keep card details out of wallets and apps that a child can open.

If you believe someone under 18 has used your account, contact live chat or e-mail support@casinoroyalvalley.co.uk straight away so that we can suspend it while we look into it.
